Siliguri, 02nd April: A distressing incident came to light from an area near Surya Nagar ground under Ward No. 23 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) where a young man committed suicide after being scolded by his mother for turning up home in an inebriated state. Tragically, the advice allegedly backfired leading to the incident. The deceased has been identified as Anshuman Das (18), a student of hotel management in a private college in Siliguri.
As per reports, the young man was scolded by his mother for returning home in an inebriated state on the occassion of Holi. In response, the youth halted conversing with his mother. On Tuesday morning, his lifeless hanging body was spotted by his mother at their residence. The baffled mother rushed him to the district hospital where the doctors declared him dead. After the incident, a state of mourning prevailed in the entire area.
After receiving the news of the incident, Ward Councillor Lakshmi Paul arrived at the youth’s residence. During this, the deceased’s mother stated that a girl had resided at their residence on rent. She added that her son was involved with the girl and her friends. She alleged that her son was forced to consume alcohol on the occasion of Holi. Further, she stated that she had reprimanded her son for which he stopped conversing with her, leading to the incident.
