Rajganj, 04th August: The health department is set to start a dengue testing facility at Rajganj Rural Hospital as a major step towards tackling dengue in the area.
This will be the first time that a rural hospital in Jalpaiguri district will have a dengue testing facility. Till now, patients had to visit Jalpaiguri District Hospital or North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for dengue tests.
According to the Block Health Department, all necessary equipment required for the tests has already reached the hospital, and the facility is expected to become operational within this week.
Meanwhile, the number of patients suffering from fever, cold and cough has increased at various hospitals and health centres in Rajganj block. The symptoms are particularly being observed among children.
Health officials have stated that there is no need to panic over the situation. Block Health Officer Rahul Roy said that blood tests are being prioritised as per the requirement for patients arriving at health centres with symptoms.
He also advised residents to ensure that no unnecessary containers or areas around their homes accumulate stagnant water to prevent mosquito breeding.
The Block Health Officer further informed that the dengue testing centre at Rajganj Rural Hospital is set to become operational, with all required equipment already available at the facility.
