Pradhan Nagar Police foil alleged robbery plan; five arrested in Siliguri

Siliguri, 04th August: Pradhan Nagar Police foiled an alleged robbery plan and arrested five persons before they could execute the crime, averting a possible criminal incident in the area.

According to information, during a patrolling operation late Monday night, police noticed some persons standing in a suspicious manner at an isolated location in Ward No. 01 under Pradhan Nagar Police Station area.

On suspicion, police stopped them and conducted questioning and a search, during which an alleged robbery plan was uncovered.

Police immediately arrested five persons from the spot. The arrested persons have been identified as Sunil Tamang (29), Buddha Tamang (42), Sonam Tamang (23), Mahesh Vishwakarma and Arun Vishwakarma (24).

Police sources said that the accused were allegedly planning to commit a major criminal activity. However, some other members of the group managed to flee from the spot after seeing the police.

A case has been registered against the arrested persons, and they were produced before Siliguri court on Tuesday. Further investigation is underway.
