Siliguri, 06th August: Police once again nabbed a youth smuggling brown sugar worth lakhs of rupees from Burdwan Road in Siliguri. This morning Siliguri Police and SOG conducted a joint operation in Burdwan Road and caught the peddler red-handed. The alleged accused has been identified as Rashidul Hussain and is a resident of Mathabhanga.
Police have recovered about 275 grams of brown sugar and a cash of Rs 50,000 from Hussain’s possession. The police were alerted with a tip-off about the illicit business and thus was keeping an eye on suspicious activity in the road. As soon as the youth reached Burdwan Road with a black bag, the police caught his attention and upon searching, they recovered drugs worth lakhs of rupees along with cash from the bag. Later, in the presence of the magistrate, the police arrested the youth and confiscated the contraband substance.
