Siliguri, 11th March: The policemen of the Pradhan Nagar police station arrested a youth with 30 bottles of banned cough syrup. The accused has been identified as Pradip Darji (29), a resident of the Salbari Bazar area.
According to the information received, the arrest was made during a naka checking on Sunday night when police spotted the youth carrying a bag near the Methibari petrol pump prompting suspicion. Upon searching the suspect, the officials recovered 30 bottles of banned cough syrup from the youth’s possession. Subsequently, upon failure to provide valid documentation pertaining to the bottles of cough syrup, the youth was arrested on charges of trafficking intoxicating substances.
Following further investigation, the officials found out that the youth had been involved in delivering banned cough syrup in the Salbari Bazaar area for some time. On Monday, the accused was presented in the Siliguri court while the police are investigating the entire incident.
