Siliguri, 09th January: A shocking incident of theft surfaced from ward number 44 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) where a miscreant targeted government property and stole a garbage disposal vehicle. The incident resulted in the arrest of the accused miscreant Bapi Das, a resident of the Dhoop Company area under the jurisdiction of the Pradhan Nagar police station.
As per details received, on January 6, a garbage disposal vehicle was allegedly stolen from the Dashrath Pally area located in ward number 44 of SMC. However, the matter was not known due to the office’s closure on Sunday. The incident came to light on Monday and the Ward Master Mahadev Das lodged a written complaint at the Bhakti Nagar police station.
Subsequently, the police conducted an investigation based on the complaint and promptly recovered the stolen vehicle within 12 hours of the occurrence. Meanwhile, the accused Bapi Das was arrested on charges of theft. On Tuesday, the accused was produced before the Jalpaiguri Court for legal proceedings.
