Youth arrested for assaulting friend over objectionable remark about girlfriend in Siliguri

Siliguri, 19th May: A youth was arrested in Siliguri after allegedly assaulting his friend over an objectionable remark made about his girlfriend.

According to police sources, the accused has been identified as Bapi Barman, a resident of the Bansjhar More area. It is alleged that his friend made inappropriate comments about Barman’s girlfriend, following which he became enraged.

The accused allegedly called his friend to meet him the next day and then assaulted him severely. He later sent the injured man home in a booked vehicle, while allegedly fleeing the area with the victim’s four-wheeler.

The injured youth was later taken to hospital by his family members. A written complaint was subsequently filed at Bhakti Nagar Police Station.

Acting on the complaint, police arrested Bapi Barman from his residence. The four-wheeler was also recovered from his possession.

The accused was produced before Jalpaiguri court on Tuesday. Police have initiated a further investigation into the incident.
