Siliguri, 19th April: In an inhumane act, a minor allegedly took advantage of a young woman’s mental health conditions and sexually assault her, resulting in her pregnancy.
The incident took place under the jurisdiction of the Bagdogra Police Station of Siliguri Metropolitan Police.
The matter came to light only after the young woman’s mother grew suspicious and arranged for a medical examination, which revealed that the young woman was five months pregnant. Following the discovery, the young woman’s mother lodged a written complaint at the Women’s Police Station on Saturday.
Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case of rape against the minor for sexually assaulting the young woman
Subsequently, they apprehended the accused and produced him before the Darjeeling Juvenile Court on Sunday.
According to police sources, the young woman and the accused minor are neighbors. The young woman suffers from mental health conditions, and the minor allegedly took advantage of this vulnerability, sexually assaulting her on multiple occasions leading to her pregnancy.
Currently, the police at the Women’s Police Station are conducting a thorough investigation into the entire matter.
