Naxalbari, 10th October: Tension erupted at Manjha tea garden in Maniram area of Naxalbari block over a notice from the garden authorities about the Durga Puja bonus.
It has been learned that this morning, the garden authorities gave a notice which mentioned that a 13 percent bonus will be given in the first phase tomorrow and the rest will be given on December 25. This sparked anger among the workers, following which, they started protesting.
The workers demanded that the bonus should be paid in one instalment, failing which, they warned of continuing with their demonstration. However, the garden manager said that such problems are occurring due to financial crisis.
