Siliguri, 27th August: Matigara Police have arrested a youth for allegedly kidnapping a 17-year-old minor girl and taking her to Bihar after luring her into a romantic relationship. Police also safely rescued the minor girl from Kishanganj district.
According to police sources, the minor girl’s family lodged a missing person complaint at Matigara Police Station on Tuesday. Based on the complaint, police launched an investigation and conducted an operation in the Paharkatta area of Bihar on Wednesday, where they rescued the minor girl.
The arrested accused has been identified as Suraj Kumar Bauri. Police allege that he lured the minor girl into a romantic relationship before allegedly kidnapping her.
Police brought the accused from Bihar to Siliguri, registered a case of kidnapping and produced him before the court. The rescued minor girl was sent to a home as per procedure.
Police are investigating other aspects of the case.
