Panitanki Traffic Guard conducts anti-illegal parking drive near Siliguri District Hospital

Siliguri, 27th August: The Panitanki Traffic Guard conducted a drive near Hospital More in Siliguri on Thursday to ease traffic congestion and reduce difficulties faced by pedestrians.

A team of traffic police reached the area in front of Siliguri District Hospital in the morning and took action against vehicles parked illegally on the roadside and occupying footpaths. Several vehicles parked illegally were towed away, while fines were imposed on a number of others.

During the drive, police also used loudspeakers to warn people against parking vehicles indiscriminately along the roadside. Traffic police said illegal parking not only increases congestion but also creates serious difficulties for patients travelling to the hospital and the movement of ambulances.

According to police sources, an alternative parking arrangement has also been made. A designated area has been set aside for vehicle parking at the Mela Ground of the Kanchenjunga Stadium, and motorists have been instructed to park their vehicles there.

Traffic officials said similar drives will continue in important areas of the city in the coming days. They also warned that strict legal action will be taken against those who violate parking rules.
