Siliguri, 27th August: Expired baby food, medicines and other items were recovered during a raid near Gate Bazar in Siliguri on Thursday. The operation was conducted by NJP Police, the Enforcement Branch and officials from various concerned departments.
According to administrative sources, a customer noticed that the baby food purchased from a shop had expired. The matter was subsequently brought to the attention of the administration, following which officials conducted a raid at the shop.
During the operation, officials examined the baby food, medicines and other items stocked at the shop. Several expired products were reportedly recovered.
Raids were also conducted at several other shops in the Gate Bazar area. Officials checked the expiry dates and validity of various products being sold at the establishments.
Considering the seriousness of the complaint, the concerned shop has been ordered to remain closed until the investigation is completed. The recovered items and the shop’s documents are being examined, and further administrative action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
ACP Ahitagni Chakraborty said the matter is being thoroughly examined. He stated that the concerned shop will remain closed until the investigation is completed and a decision on reopening it will be taken only after further administrative directions.
