Women protested with buckets over unavailability of drinking water facility in Ambari

Rajganj, 25th December: An unsettling incident surfaced from Mahamaya Colony, located in Ambari under Rajganj block where women staged a protest with buckets due to the unavailability of drinking water facility in the village.

According to the residents, about two years ago, taps were installed to provide drinking water to every household. The water was being supplied to the area from the Sudamgachh Water Project; however, the supply was allegedly halted after two months. Later, the matter was informed to the Local Panchayat but the issue was left resolved.

Consequently, the residents were forced to drink water from the well, which prompted the women of the area to participate in the protest on Monday.

Speaking in this regard, Local Panchayat member Bhaskar Sarkar stated that information has been provided to the concerned department. He added that the construction of water tanks is underway in two nearby locations and further assured that the issue will be resolved soon.
