Kharibari, 26th November: A woman lost her life in an elephant attack, on Thursday. The incident surfaced from the Andharu Jote area of Batasi in Kharibari block. The deceased has been identified as Saraswati Sarkar (30).
It has been learned that a herd of elephants entered the locality last night and attacked Saraswati Sarkar. The woman died after she was rushed to Batasi Primary Health Center. After her death, the agitated crowd vandalized the health center. Based on the complaint of the health department, the Police arrested two people on charges of vandalism.
Tapas Majhi, a family member of the deceased, said that she died after being taken to the hospital. However, it is not yet clear why the hospital was vandalized.
