Jalpaiguri, 24th August: A 15-kilogram catfish caught in the Teesta River drew a large crowd of buyers after it arrived at the Jalpaiguri Station Market on Monday.
The giant fish was caught in fishermen’s nets in the Teesta River and brought to the market, where people gathered to catch a glimpse of it. A rush soon broke out among buyers eager to purchase the fish, which was sold within moments.
Traders said catfish caught in the Teesta River is always in high demand among local buyers, who value the distinctive taste of fresh water fish. The 15 kg catfish was sold at the wholesale market for ₹250 per kilogram and later retailed at ₹500 per kilogram.
