Siliguri, 07th October: In a significant breakthrough, Matigara police launched an operation near the fourth Mahananda Bridge and apprehended a woman with a huge quantity of cannabis. The arrested accused has been identified as Santana Barman (40), a resident of Sitalkuchi in Cooch Behar.
According to reports, on Saturday evening, the accused woman arrived at the fourth Mahananda Bridge under Matigara police station with cannabis concealed in a bag. The woman intended to deliver the intoxicating item to someone.
The Matigara police conducted an operation, based on suspicion, and arrested the woman under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act. Following the arrest, the police retrieved 6 kgs of cannabis. The accused will be produced before the Siliguri court on Sunday.
