Wild tusker tramples woman to death in Kharibari

Kharibari, 30th November: A tragic incident unfolded in the Tukriajhar forest area near Uttar Ramdhan Jote adjacent to Panitanki in Kharibari where a woman lost her life in a wild elephant attack. The deceased woman has been identified as Gouri Adhikari, a resident of Gaur Singh Jote in Panitanki


According to reports, a group of women went to the forest on Thursday morning to collect wood. During this, they encountered the wild elephant. While the other women managed to escape, Gouri became a victim of the attack and died on the spot.

Upon receiving the news, the Rangers of the Tukriajhar forest area and cops of the Panitanki outpost arrived at the spot and initiated an investigation. Additionally, the forest and land officer of Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad, Kishori Mohan Singh, and Panchayat member of Gaur Singh Jote, Krishna Roy also reached the spot.


The police recovered the deceased body and transported it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem examination.
