Wild elephants rescued and released into the forest with the help of ‘Kunki’ elephant in Phansidewa

Phansidewa, 23rd February: The forest department has successfully rescued the two wild elephants that had crossed the Indo-Bangladesh border and released them into the forest with the assistance of the ‘Kunki’ elephant.


According to reports, earlier on Friday, the forest department had arranged a ‘Kunki’ elephant and initiated the process of transporting the two elephants to the forest. Later, in the evening, the Forest Department achieved success in its endeavor. However, the forest department had to put in valiant efforts to rescue both the elephants.

In this regard, Harikrishnan PJ, DFO of the Kurseong Division, stated that the job was finished effectively due to everyone’s cooperation, including the police and BFS. The elephants were tranquilized and rescued in good health. Medical professionals are present while both elephants will be moved to the Mahananda Sanctuary.
