Wild elephant kills one, damages several houses and a vehicle in Bagdogra’s Natun Para

Bagdogra, 16th December: A tragic incident unfolded where an individual lost his life in a wild elephant attack in Bagdogra. In addition, a vehicle and several houses were damaged by the wild tusker. The deceased has been identified as Dilip Roy (45), a mason by profession.


According to reports, on Saturday morning, a wild elephant came out of the forest and entered the residential area. The elephant wreaked havoc after entering several villages including Natun Para, Bhujiapani, and Mulai Jote of Bagdogra. During this, the elephant attacked Dilip Roy and left him severely injured. Subsequently, the injured was rescued and transported to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), where medical professionals declared him dead.

Meanwhile, at Natun Para the wild tusker rammed into a moving vehicle. The driver remained seated inside the car and had a narrow escape. Additionally, the wild elephant damaged several residences located in the said area. As per the forest department, the animal was later chased towards the forest by forest personnel.
