West Bengal government did nothing to alleviate problems in Panitanki border region: Raju Bista

Darjeeling, 02nd November: Darjeeling MP Raju Bista visited the Panitanki border region on Tuesday and interacted with the locals, where he learned that they have suffered a lot as the India-Nepal border had been closed for a long time due to COVID pandemic.

Bista, in a statement, alleged that the West Bengal government did nothing to alleviate their problems when they faced huge losses and livelihood crises due to the border shutdown.

Following the talks with the locals, he met and interacted with the SSB Assistant Commandant and Commandant In-charge of the area. They informed him that the border between India and Nepal has been opened completely now. However, entry of 3-wheelers, including Totos has been stopped as of now.

“If needed, I will be taking up their problems with both the Union Home Ministry and the Ministry for External Affairs. I also met with and interacted with the local BJP karyakartas (workers), learned about their issues, and appreciated their dedication towards our nation-building,” he added.
