Siliguri, 31st December: The Ward Utsav “Unmeelan” commenced with a magnificent procession in Ward No. 33 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC). Siliguri Mayor and Ward Councilor Goutam Deb inaugurated the event by hoisting the flag and releasing a pigeon.
According to reports, the Ward Utsav began on Sunday with considerable zeal and enthusiasm. The festival is scheduled to be held from January 2 to January 20 and will comprise mega health camps as well as numerous competitions such as music and dance.
In addition, Raghab Chattopadhyay, a well-known singer, will be performing during the festival’s closing ceremony. Students from the ward’s numerous schools, as well as youngsters of all ages, eagerly participated in the parade.
In this regard, Mayor Goutam Deb highlighted the significance of organizing the event in every ward to promote the culture of unity among all across the city. He further declared the hosting of the event from December to January.
