Voluntary organizations allege sale of banned firecrackers on pretext of selling eco-friendly firecrackers in Kawakhali

Siliguri, 10th November: On Saturday, several voluntary organizations held a press conference at the Siliguri Journalists Club. During this, the organizations asserted that banned firecrackers were being sold in Siliguri’s Kawakhali under the guise of eco-friendly ones without providing legitimate bills during the purchase.

As per reports, the organizations briefed the media on how to identify environmentally friendly firecrackers by scanning the QR code on the packet or box of firecrackers. In addition, helpline numbers were provided for the purpose of filing complaints from the public regarding prohibited firecrackers. In addition, the numbers 9932653798, 9233424101, and 9434106530 will be available from 10 am to 12 noon for the next two days.

Speaking on behalf of the organization, Deep Narayan Talukdar alleged that most of the QR codes on the package of firecrackers were counterfeit and were not being confiscated. He added that the government directives are not being followed in Siliguri.
