Vandalism at NJP land port was pre-planned: Sanjay Mawar

Siliguri, 05th February: During a press conference, Sanjay Mawar, head of the land port project, stated that the police were informed in advance that the incident which occurred at the NJP land port on Thursday was pre-planned.


Sanjay Mawar said that INTTUC leader Prasenjit Roy, earlier too, obstructed the work of the land port and repeatedly threatened the workers to fire them from their job. Roy also demanded money from the company. Mawar further stated that the vandalism at the port resulted in huge losses. The Police kept strict surveillance on Friday and arrested many. Police are also searching for Prasenjit Roy.

It was decided that the Chief Minister would be invited to inaugurate the project. The matter was also discussed with Minister Goutam Deb. However, an atmosphere of panic is being witnessed at the moment due to yesterday’s incident.


Reportedly, the port authorities will inform the Chief Minister in writing regarding the unfortunate incident. A complaint has been lodged at the police station against Roy and his associates. However, many are still elusive.
