Siliguri, 28th August: With Durga Puja approaching, preparations are underway at puja committees across Siliguri. Among them, Shaktigarh Sarbajanin Durga Utsav Puja Committee is set to mark its 75th year with special attractions, including a Hawa Mahal-inspired pandal and a laser show.
Construction of the puja pandal began after the Khuti Puja. On Friday, the puja committee held a press conference and shared details of this year’s theme ‘Uttareshwar’.
According to the organisers, the pandal will be inspired by the Hawa Mahal, one of the iconic examples of Rajasthan’s traditional architecture. The design will incorporate elements of Rajasthani architecture and culture, offering visitors a glimpse of the state’s heritage in Siliguri. The pandal is being designed by Siliguri-based artist Bapan Ghosh.
Another major attraction this year will be a laser show. The organisers claim that a special laser show will be organised outside the puja pandal for the first time in North Bengal. Special technology and equipment required for the show will be brought from Mumbai.
Puja committee secretary Rathin Dey said a special laser show lasting around five minutes will be presented outside the pandal. He added that the committee members are particularly excited about the 75th anniversary celebrations.
The organisers expect a large number of visitors from Siliguri and neighbouring areas to visit the puja to experience the unique pandal decoration and the laser show.
