Siliguri, 28th August: Farabari Mahadev Sporting Club took a humanitarian initiative on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan by celebrating the festival with police personnel across Siliguri.
Members of the club visited various traffic guards and police stations in the city and tied rakhis to police personnel on duty as part of the Raksha Bandhan celebrations.
The organisers said police personnel perform their duties away from their families every day and are often unable to return home and spend time with their loved ones even on special occasions.
They said the initiative was taken to honour police personnel as brothers and celebrate the bond of Raksha Bandhan with them.
