Siliguri, 28th August: Bhakti Nagar Police have arrested the main accused along with a receiver who allegedly purchased stolen goods in connection with a theft case in Siliguri. Police have also recovered part of the stolen gold and silver jewellery.
According to police, a theft was reported at the residence of Phuleshwar Yadav in Bhupendra Nagar, Ward No. 42, under Bhakti Nagar Police Station. As per the complaint, a pair of gold earrings and silver jewellery were stolen from a cupboard at the house. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation.
During the investigation, police collected clues from the crime scene and surrounding areas and identified the motorcycle allegedly used in the theft. Following the motorcycle trail, police detained Navneet Kumar Gupta from the Haiderpara area on Thursday night and questioned him.
According to police, Navneet admitted his alleged involvement in the theft during questioning and told investigators that he had sold part of the stolen items to Tanmay Pal.
Police subsequently conducted an operation in the Shanti Nagar area and arrested Tanmay Pal. Based on information provided by him, police recovered the stolen silver jewellery.
Both accused were produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Friday, where police sought their remand for further questioning and recovery of the remaining stolen items.
