Update: Four arrested with over 2 kg heroin, cash in Siliguri

Siliguri, 28th August: A team of Phansidewa Police and Kolkata’s Special Task Force (STF), acting on a tip-off, arrested four people with heroin worth crores and cash. The arrested have been identified as Namraju Gurung (30), Sanjeev Gurung (33), Prabhas Mandal (42) and Swapna Mandal (35). 


According to the information, acting on a tip-off, the team stopped two four-wheelers in front of Bijlimani toll plaza in Bidhan Nagar. During the search, 2.101 kilograms of heroin and Rs 19,01,500 cash were recovered from the vehicle. Four people in the vehicles were immediately taken into custody.


According to police sources, the peddlers had planned to smuggle the drugs to Malda for sale. The market value of the seized heroin is estimated to be around Rs 1.40 crore. The accused were produced in the Siliguri court today.
