UP Government put up hoardings with photos and details of anti-CAA protesters accused of vandalism

The Yogi Adityanath led government in Uttar Pradesh has installed hoardings in Lucknow bearing names, photographs, and details of 53 anti-CAA protesters. Many social workers are also on the list including Shia cleric Maulana Saif Abbas, retired IPS SR Darapuri and Congress leader Sadaf Jafar.


According to the Lucknow administration, those whose photographs are on the hoardings were involved in abetment to sabotage public and private property during the anti-CAA protest. The people who have been accused of vandalism have been asked to pay compensation for damage assessed to be worth Rs 1.55 crore.

According to Lucknow District Magistrate Abhishek Prakash, the hoardings of people who have been identified by the district administration for indulging in violent activities during the protest have been put up across the city. “Around 100 such hoardings will be put up at several places and these will feature the pictures, names and addresses of people. Also, people indulging in violence have been served recovery notices and if they don’t pay for the damages, then their properties will be confiscated,” the DM added
