Unidentified body recovered from Mechi River on Indo-Nepal Border

Kharibari, 20th August: Sensation prevailed after the body of an unidentified individual was found in the Mechi River in Kharibari’s Panitanki at the Indo-Nepal Border.


According to reports, On Sunday, the locals spotted the lifeless body while fishing. Following this, the locals promptly alerted the Panitanki Outpost Police under Kharibari Police Station and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel. Upon receiving the news, the officials arrived at the spot, recovered the body, and transported it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem examination.

However, at the time of the report, the identity of the deceased could not be ascertained. The locals estimated that the deceased might have drowned while crossing the river. At present, the police are engaged in investigating the entire incident.
