Two arrested with huge cache of cannabis in Siliguri

Siliguri, 12th January: Based on a tip-off, the Pradhan Nagar police launched operations at the Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus area and arrested two people on the charge of smuggling cannabis. The arrested accused have been identified as Khokhan Chowdhury, resident of South Dinajpur, and Mustafa Mandal, resident of Murshidabad.


Reportedly, 11 kg 300 gms cannabis was recovered from Chowdhury’s possession and 9 kg 600 gms cannabis was recovered from Mandal’s possession.

As per the report, the accused individuals were on a quest to smuggle the drug into other states and were to board a bus at the Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus after arriving from Cooch Behar.


However, the police grew suspicious and detained them. During the search, a total of 20 kg 900 grams of cannabis was recovered from their possession. A case has been registered against both the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and was produced at the Siliguri court. The police are investigating the whole incident.
