Two arrested with a firearm and live ammunition in Siliguri

Siliguri, 06th March: In a recent development, the police officers of Panitanki Outpost in Siliguri successfully foiled a major criminal activity and apprehended two individuals with a firearm and live ammunition. The arrested accused have been identified as Gautam Biswas (30) and Pankaj Talukdar, also known as Sadhu (24).


According to reports, Gautam Biswas was a notorious criminal on the police’s watchlist, while Pankaj Talukdar worked as a rickshaw-puller. Allegedly, Pankaj would scout various locations around the city while working during the day and would then carry out theft and snatching activities with Gautam during the night.

Police sources revealed that on Tuesday night, patrolling officers from the Panitanki Outpost spotted the two miscreants behind Surya Sen Park of Ward No. 10. Based on suspicion, the officers interrogated the accused and recovered a firearm and live ammunition from their possession prompting the arrest. On Wednesday, the accused duo was produced before the Siliguri Court for legal proceedings.
