Two arrested for fraudulent land sales using fake documents in Siliguri

Siliguri, 18th May: In a significant development, the land mafia involved in fraudulent land sales using fake documents has resurfaced in recent times. Responding promptly to the complaint, the police launched a campaign resulting in the arrest of two key members of the land mafia. The accused have been identified as Noor Ali and Mehboob Alam, who are related as father and son.

According to police sources, Noor Ali and Mehboob Alam have been involved in a long-standing operation of selling the same plot of land multiple times by fabricating counterfeit land papers. It has been revealed that both individuals have been arrested in the past for similar offences. Allegedly, their illegal activities were shielded by influential political figures.

The renewed focus on their activities came after a group of people, including Mrityunjay Mitra from Babupara, filed a complaint against the accused regarding land disputes. Subsequently, on May 11, another individual named Mahesh Aggarwal lodged a complaint at NJP police station, highlighting the land mafia’s involvement in the sale of the same piece of land.

Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police apprehended the two land mafia members from Kamrangaguri during an operation conducted earlier today. Noor Ali and Mehboob Alam were produced before the Jalpaiguri court following their arrest.
