Naxalbari, 26th August: A man was arrested within hours of a theft complaint in Naxalbari, with police recovering stolen puja utensils from his possession.
According to information, a theft took place at a house in Station Para, Naxalbari, on Tuesday. The accused allegedly entered the house when it was empty and fled with puja utensils and cash.
After the theft came to light, the homeowner, Nanigopal Dutta, lodged a complaint with Naxalbari Police on Tuesday night. During the investigation, police arrested the accused from the Satbhaiya flyover area in Naxalbari.
The arrested accused has been identified as Bikash Sarkar, a resident of Khalbasti. The stolen puja utensils were recovered from his possession.
The accused was produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Wednesday. The family expressed satisfaction with the police response in the case.
