Siliguri, 26th August: Tourism Minister and Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh visited homes in Ward No. 15 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation on Wednesday to enquire about the Annapurna Yojana and whether beneficiaries had received the financial assistance in their bank accounts.
Accompanied by the BJP coordinator of Ward No. 15 and party workers, Ghosh visited different areas and spoke with people door to door. He checked whether the ₹3,000 assistance under the Annapurna Yojana had reached their accounts.
At the homes of those who had received the assistance, Ghosh also put up stickers thanking the Chief Minister.
Speaking to reporters, Ghosh said that many people eligible for the Annapurna Yojana had received ₹3,000 in their bank accounts. He added that those who had not yet received the money were also being contacted to understand the reasons for the delay.
Ghosh urged eligible beneficiaries who have not received the assistance to contact the MLA Seva Kendra. He said that if there are any administrative or documentation-related issues with their application or payment, efforts would be made to coordinate with the concerned departments and resolve the problems so that beneficiaries receive the assistance they are entitled to.
On the anger and protests reported in different areas over the Annapurna Yojana, Ghosh said people may have anger, grievances or dissatisfaction. However, he maintained that those eligible for the scheme will receive government assistance after following the prescribed rules.
