Two arrested along with gold biscuits in Siliguri

Siliguri, 14th September: Based on a tip-off, the DRI and the customs department launched joint operations at Siliguri’s Champasari more and arrested two people along with 18 foreign gold biscuits. A vehicle was also seized in the incident. The arrested accused have been identified as Ankit Jain and Gourav Jain. Both are reportedly residents of Maharashtra. They were produced before the Siliguri court today.


According to customs sources, both the arrested were travelling to Siliguri from Assam for smuggling the gold biscuits in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon. The customs officials then searched a car holding a Maharashtra number plate and recovered gold biscuits from the driver’s seat.

Reportedly, the recovered gold weighs 3 kg and the market value has been estimated to be around Rs 1.65 crore.
