Trishakti Corps celebrated International Women’s Day at Sukna War Memorial

Siliguri, 08th March: The Trishakti Corps observed International Women’s Day at Sukna War Memorial, on Tuesday. The event witnessed the gracious presence of senior Army officers and several civil dignitaries. The highlight of the event was the felicitation of Veer Naris and the inauguration of a 72 ft National Flag. The event was a part of the grand celebration of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.


The day was celebrated as ‘Narishakti Tiranga Utsav’. 26 Veer Naris and widows were felicitated by Mrs. Geeta Gopalkrishnan, Founder and Managing Trustee of Ma foundation who is working with the ethos of ‘Giving with a Difference’ and Mrs. Saswati Aich, Zonal President AWWA. Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Geeta Gopalkrishnan highlighted the contribution of women in building society.


A large number of NCC cadets and school children in uniform participated in the event. The Sukna War Memorial area has recently been given a new facelift to consist of an informative museum, war trophies, historical equipment, a 72 feet National Flag, etc, which is open to the public.
