Siliguri, 25th August: A new conference hall and seminar room were inaugurated at the Income Tax Office in Siliguri on Tuesday. Surabhi Verma Garg, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, West Bengal and Sikkim, was present as the chief guest at the programme.
Senior department officials, including Rajiv Kumar, along with other officers and employees, were also present at the inauguration.
Officials said the new facilities will enable departmental meetings, training programmes and seminars to be organised in a more systematic manner.
During a press conference, officials also provided information regarding individuals holding more than one PAN card. The department is examining such cases, and additional PAN cards may be cancelled as per the rules. The department appealed to people holding more than one PAN card to voluntarily disclose the matter and complete the necessary procedure.
Meanwhile, the Income Tax Department has set a revenue collection target of more than ₹600 crore for the current financial year. According to officials, around ₹200 crore, or approximately 33 per cent of the target, has been collected so far.
