Siliguri, 30th July: Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) leader Sourav Bhaskar was arrested by Siliguri Police on Thursday morning in connection with an old assault case. He was later produced before the Siliguri court, where the court granted him bail.
Following the court proceedings, a few ABVP workers allegedly hurled eggs at Bhaskar inside the court premises. Police intervened and brought the situation under control.
Meanwhile, an alleged attack on a Trinamool Youth Congress leader was reported while leaving the court premises. TMC district president Kuntal Roy alleged that Promit Deb was attacked as he was leaving the court.
Speaking after the incident, Promit Deb claimed, “I was driving out of the court premises when around 30–35 ABVP workers suddenly surrounded me. They attacked me with helmets and stones. I suffered a head injury and had to receive stitches.”
At present, police are looking into the entire incident.
