Tricolour masks fill Siliguri’s markets ahead of nation’s 74th Independence Day

Siliguri, 10th August: Independence Day is celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm every year, however, in light of the ongoing pandemic, mass gatherings are prohibited. Hence, no large celebrations will be held to rejoice the auspicious day.


While people try to get back to their ‘normal’ lives tackling with the ongoing pandemic, tricolour masks were spotted being sold in the city’s various markets ahead of the 74th Independence Day of India.


Every year, huge crowds swarm in Mahabirsthan and Bidhan Market buying flags, tricolour clothes, and badges. However, the scenario is completely different this year.

Tricolour masks, starting from 10 rupees up to 30 rupees are available in the market. Besides, similar N95 masks are also being sold.

Although the traders are facing deep losses as only a handful of customers are spotted in the market, however, they are hopeful of an increase in sale two days before August 15.
