Tragic road accident in Sikkim, 16 soldiers martyred, 4 injured after army vehicle fell into ditch

Sikkim, 23rd December: In a tragic road accident in Sikkim, 16 army jawans were martyred while four injured. The said incident took place at Gema in North Sikkim.
Reportedly, the army vehicle skidded down a steep slope at a dangerous turn and fell into a deep gorge on the way to Gema. The rescue operation commenced immediately after the tragic incident. The injured soldiers have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Expressing grief over this accident, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that he is deeply saddened by the tragic incident where the jawans of Indian Army were martyred in North Sikkim. The nation is grateful for the services and dedication of those jawans. Stating this he offered his deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs and wished speedy recovery of the injured.
