306 grams heroin seized in Siliguri, two alleged traffickers arrested by NCB

Siliguri, 26th August: The Siliguri Unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) foiled an alleged attempt to smuggle heroin from Malda to Siliguri by train and arrested two individuals with around 306 grams of heroin in Gurung Basti’s Ganesh More area.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Ahidul Momin and MD Hasimuddin, both residents of Malda district.

According to information, the two accused allegedly travelled from Malda to New Jalpaiguri (NJP) by train carrying the heroin. They then hired an e-rickshaw (toto) from NJP and were travelling towards Gurung Basti in Ward No. 03 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation when the NCB received information about their movements.

On Tuesday night, an NCB team conducted an operation in the Ganesh More area of Gurung Basti. The two suspects travelling in the toto were stopped and searched. During the search, a packet containing around 306 grams of heroin was allegedly recovered from their possession.

The Siliguri NCB unit registered a case against both accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. They were produced before the Siliguri court on Wednesday.
