Jalpaiguri, 26th August: Jalpaiguri Kotwali Police have arrested three individuals for their alleged involvement in a vehicle theft racket in which stolen e-rickshaws and motorcycles were being transported to neighbouring districts. Police recovered two motorcycles and four e-rickshaws during raids in Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts.
According to police sources, e-rickshaws and motorcycles were allegedly being stolen from Jalpaiguri town and adjoining areas before being transported to neighbouring districts. During the investigation, police traced the alleged racket and subsequently conducted operations in Alipurduar and Cooch Behar.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sudipta Dey, a resident of Alipurduar, and Abu Bakkar Siddiqui and Samsul Mian, residents of Cooch Behar.
Two stolen motorcycles and four e-rickshaws were recovered during the police operation. Police are now investigating whether any other individuals are involved in the alleged racket.
The three accused were produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Wednesday.
