Traffic Violators in Siliguri can now pay challan Online as police launch E-Challan payment system

Siliguri, 19th November: The next time you get caught violating traffic rules, you won’t be able to dodge penalty with the ‘no cash’ excuse. The Traffic Department of Siliguri Metropolitan Police has launched an online payment system wherein citizens will be able to pay fines digitally. Police Commissioner Gaurav Sharma handed over POS machines to the officers of the Traffic Department.


At present, many changes are being seen in the traffic department of Siliguri Metropolitan Police. While the traffic rules are being made sterner, the traffic department is also paying close attention to ‘greenery’ by decorating the dividers and barricades with plants. The Siliguri traffic police is also working hard to keep the city jam-free.

While handing out POS machines at Junction, Panitanki, Bhaktinagar, Jalpaiguri More, Bagdogra, NJP and various traffic guards, traffic ICs, Commissioner Gaurav Sharma stated that the idea is to bring in more transparency in the system. Also it will make penalty payment easier for the citizens as well as the police. He further informed that the department had POS machines earlier too, but they were very less in number. Due to which it was not possible to deduct online challan in all the traffic points. In view of this, today, POS machines were handed over to many traffic guards in the city. More POS machines will be provided if needed, the Commissioner further maintained.
