Siliguri, 08th August: Siliguri MLA and West Bengal Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh inspected several areas of the city on Saturday morning to assess the municipal corporation’s preparedness for dengue prevention and the condition of drainage systems during the monsoon.
Accompanied by the Siliguri Municipal Corporation Commissioner and other officials, the minister first visited Bidhan Road and adjoining areas. He inspected locations prone to waterlogging, reviewed arrangements for the prompt removal of stagnant water and took stock of measures being undertaken by the civic body to prevent dengue.
Shankar Ghosh then visited Bidhan Market and interacted with local traders. He inspected the drainage system and other civic facilities across different parts of the market and directed municipal officials to take necessary steps to address the issues.
After the inspection, Ghosh said the administration needs to work more actively on waterlogging and dengue prevention during the monsoon. He said drainage-related problems at Bidhan Market are also being given priority.
The minister added that while it may not be possible to resolve all the issues at once, work will be carried out in phases to address them.
