Siliguri, 08th August: The CPI(M) Area Committee No. III submitted a memorandum at the Office of the Borough Committee No. III, Siliguri Municipal Corporation, on Saturday, expressing strong dissatisfaction over municipal services in the city.
Party workers and supporters reached the office and handed over the memorandum to the concerned official.
The CPI(M) alleged that the Siliguri Municipal Corporation is currently effectively under BJP control and claimed that municipal services have deteriorated as a result. The party demanded that municipal elections be held at the earliest and that the board be handed over to representatives elected by the people.
The party further alleged that BJP representatives have been placed in various wards and are running affairs through what it described as a system of control, while failing to provide proper services.
According to the CPI(M), residents are being made to make repeated visits to the municipal corporation to obtain necessary certificates. The party also raised concerns over the poor condition of roads across the city.
