Siliguri, 15th June: The Kawakhali Asian Highway-2 had raised concerns regarding the safety of motorists, especially after the recent consecutive road accidents. Many people have lost their lives in a very short period of time due to multiple collisions. Hence, to reduce and monitor the mishaps, a new outpost of traffic police has been built at Kawakhali as per the orders of Siliguri Police Commissioner Gaurav Sharma.
According to the information, the Kawakhali Traffic Outpost (TOP) under SI Rajiv Guha, OC Kawakhali TOP was inaugurated by Siliguri Metropolitan Police Traffic ADCP Purnima Sherpa today.
Addressing the media, the Traffic ADCP said that the TOP shall have a dedicated zone from Chathat-Medical More to Noukaghat Bridge. She added that the main purpose of the outpost is to ensure smooth flow of traffic and cut down on accidents. Speed guns, rumble strips and other equipment have been installed for special monitoring.
