Rajganj, 22nd August: A daylight theft at a house in Phapuri Para near Sahudangi under Binnaguri Gram Panchayat in Rajganj block has created concern among local residents.
According to the homeowner, Nilima Roy, she went to the BDO office with her daughter at around 11 AM on Friday for some official work. Her younger son was at school, while her husband was at his shop in Sahudangi, leaving the house unattended.
Roy said she returned home at around 1 PM and found the belongings inside the house scattered. After checking the rooms, she allegedly found that cash and gold jewellery kept inside the house were missing.
She claimed that around ₹70,000 in cash had been kept at home, which she had gradually saved from the earnings of the shop. She also alleged that a pair of gold earrings was stolen.
Roy suspects that the thief may have entered the house from the rear by climbing a tree.
Police from Bhorer Alo Police Station reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and started an investigation.
