TMC protests against BJP for making indecent remarks on state government

Siliguri, 19th September: Dabgram-Fulbari Block Trinamool Youth Congress (TMYC) Committee of Siliguri staged a protest at NJP police station against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for making indecent remarks towards state government.

Gautam Goswami, President of Dabgram-Fulbari Block TMYC demanded legal action against the accused BJP leaders.

Darjeeling District Trinamool Congress President Ranjan Sarkar also lodged a written complaint against the BJP State General Secretary Sayantan Basu, Rathindra Basu and MP Saumitra Khan at the police station, accusing BJP of plotting to disrupt peace in Bengal. Sarkar further demanded strict police action against the party as soon as possible.

It is to recall, on Friday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had called for a Maha rally in Siliguri against the increasing rate of violence against women in the state. As no permission had been granted to hold the said rally, a large police force of the Siliguri Police Commissionerate was deployed in the area since morning to hinder it. Barricades and water cannons were also kept to prevent the activists from marching into the city.

The rally was obstructed midway by the police shortly after it commenced. Police took several activists into custody after they tried to move forward by breaking the barricades. Meanwhile, BJP leaders were also quoted accusing the State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of turning Siliguri into Mecca rather than Switzerland.

Opposing such comments, the Trinamool activists demanded legal action against the BJP leaders.
