TMC protest demanding a stoppage of Vande Bharat Express at New Cooch Behar Railway Station

Cooch Behar, 23rd May: The NJP-Guwahati Vande Bharat Express train is scheduled to become formally operational from the 25th of May. In light of this, the Trinamool Congress has initiated a protest, demanding a stoppage of the train at New Cooch Behar Railway Station.


According to reports, the Railways Department has already finalized the train’s schedule and list of stops, in which New Cooch Behar station is not featured. Following this, today, the Cooch Behar District Trinamool Congress staged a protest at New Cooch Behar station by obstructing the rail tracks. 

Addressing the issue, Abhijeet Dey Bhowmik, the District President, said that Cooch Behar holds historical significance and is a district abundant in heritage in North Bengal. However, the people are being denied the provision of a stoppage for the Vande Bharat Express train in Cooch Behar.
