Two Bangladeshi nationals detained near Indo-Nepal border in Kharibari

Kharibari, 25th August: Two Bangladeshi nationals were detained at Panitanki, along the Indo-Nepal border in Kharibari.

According to reports, police from Kharibari police station became suspicious after spotting two individuals loitering near the border area on Monday night. They were subsequently detained and questioned, during which they allegedly admitted to having entered India illegally.

Police sources said the two men had initially entered India through the Bangladesh-Tripura border before travelling to Panitanki, where they were detained. The detained individuals have been identified as Mohammad Rafique and Mohammad Zubir, both residents of Chattogram, Bangladesh.

The two Bangladeshi nationals were sent to the Bidhannagar holding centre on Tuesday. They are expected to be subsequently deported to Bangladesh.
